Books
Coaster Book - Gracie on Parade

By: Penny Yoder

Beginner’s Rubber Stamping Design Team

In April 2008, I applied for the first-ever Character Clown Corps for the Portland, Oregon Rose Festival.  After being interviewed and accepted, I attended clown school for 3 days and learned how to apply make-up, costumes, and all the fun tricks of the trade. This little book houses some pictures of our big day in the world's best parade. There was quite an audience with about 500,000 spectators, and the adventure was a wonderful experience!

For more information about the Rose Festival or the Character Clown Corps, go to: www.rosefestival.org

Designer’s Note: On the front cover of my book, I used the ‘Spotlight’ technique. Check out: Spotlighting - Portals to Color by Cheryl Hurttgam for how-to instructions located in the ‘Stamping Techniques’ section on the Rubber Road Adventures.

Supply List:
4" x 4" coasters  (www.americancoaster.com)
Photos
Various patterned papers & card stock (DCWV, TAC, Stampin' Up, and Hot off the Press)
Various embellishments – (Joann's, Michael's, TAC, Eyeletoutlet.com)
Various ribbons and fibers – (Joann's, Michael's)
Black Pigma Micron Archival Ink Pen – (Sakura)
Noir Palette Ink (Stewart Superior)
The Carl Paper Drill (Carl Mfg.)
Corner Rounding Punch (Carl Mfg.)
Lamination - Kinko's (I had the front & back covers laminated for a nicer look)
3 in 1 Advanced Craft Glue (Beacon)-for gluing the laminated covers to the coasters)
Scotch Double Sided Tape (3M)
Therm O Web Clear Adhesive Dots (Zots)

Instructions:

Designer’s Note: I used colors of paper and card stock that would accent my pictures. In this little book, I computer printed my pictures out in 2” x 3” sizes so I would have room for journal entries and embellishments.

1. Cut the patterned papers and card stock to 4” x 4” sizes in colors that will compliment your pictures.

2. Using the Corner Rounding Punch, cut all the corners of your patterned papers and card stock. Adhere the pictures to the patterned papers and card stock before adhering to the coasters using Scotch Double Sided Tape.

3. Adhere the pages to the coasters using Scotch Double Sided Tape.

4. Distress the edges with the Noir Palette Ink pad.

5. Drill holes for the fibers and ribbons. I debated between 3 or 4 holes; 3 won out.

6.  Make the journal entries on all the pages and then complete the embellishing.

7. When finished with your journaling and embellishing, choose desired fibers and ribbons to go with the colors of your book. I cut mine 7” in length, but any length can be used; that’s up to you.

8. String the fibers and ribbons through the holes, tie in a square knot, and you’re finished!
