Altered CD: Gift Card

Penny Yoder
Magic Stampin’ Bus
Beginners Stamping Team

These recycled CDs can be used for Thank You, Anniversary, Baby gift, etc. They don’t have to be a gift card. I made these into Christmas Cards one year and added a ribbon at the top so they could be hung on the tree as an ornament.  As you can see, I added a little “happy birthday” greeting on a small piece of scrap paper with a piece of ribbon. I used the same stamp for the Golf Birthday card. Use your imagination. Have fun and share your creations with us.

Supply List:
Stamps - The Angel Company
1 CD - local store, any worn-out music CD or movie DVD, junk mail CD, etc.
2 Pieces of patterned paper, each a different pattern – (Hot off the Press)
1 Piece of solid, coordinating card stock (Stampin’ Up)
Fibers that coordinate with the patterned paper and card stock
Mono Adhesive (Tombow)
1/4” circle hand punch

Instructions:

1.      On one of the patterned papers, trace two (2) circles using the CD as a template and cut these out. Adhere one of paper circles to the back of the CD. Cut the other paper circle in half. You will only be using one of these two halves. Set aside.

2.      On the other piece of patterned paper, trace one (1) circle again using the CD as a template and cut this out. Adhere this whole paper circle to the front of the CD.

3.      On the back side of one of the half circles, put adhesive only along the outer edge on the curve. Do not put adhesive along the straight edge. Adhere to the lower front of the CD. This is the pocket for the gift card.

4.      Cut a piece of the solid color card stock 2 1/2” x 3 1/2” (this is a trading card size). Punch a 1/4” hole at the top, about 1/2” down.

5.      Cut fibers to desired length and insert into the hole. You may add a greeting to this little card and insert the gift card behind it.
