Jennifer Willis I have a hard time using the many pieces of ephemera and found objects I have accumulated. The vintage feel of this project made it easy to incorporate several pieces into it. Check junk drawers, look for old jewelry (broken or not) at tag sales and keep your eyes toward the ground. These are great places to find objects to incorporate into art.
Supply List: Instructions: 1. Prepare the CD case by removing the plastic coated paper. This is easily done by pulling it away at one of the corners where it is sealed to itself. For this project, save the back side of the case with the sides attached for the clock body, and one of the flat pieces of chip board for photo backing. 2. Measure the clock body, add 3/4" to the dimensions, and trim the background paper to fit. Randomly stamp the images onto the background paper using second generation inking. Adhere the background paper to the outer flat surface of the clock body with Mod Podge. Miter the corners, fold over, and glue the sides down. 3. Trim three photos into circles 2" in diameter. Apply a thin coating of the sepia dimensional adhesive and allow to dry. 4. Using a ruler, create a straight line from edge to edge on the remaining piece of chipboard about 1 - 1/2" from the bottom. Adhere the first photo to the left hand edge of the chipboard with the bottom of the picture touching the line. Attach the second photo to the right hand edge also touching the previously drawn line and allow the two pictures to dry. 5. While the pictures are drying, cut a 1/2 x 1-1/2" strip of chipboard from the upper edge of the same chipboard piece that the photos are attached to. On the back of the third picture attach this strip in the center. Then position the final picture between the first two and place it in a slightly higher position. Frame the center photo with a metal embellishment and attach it with Gloo adhesive. 6. After the photos are dry, trim the chipboard away leaving tabs below the two lower photos that are about 1/2 x 1/2". At the top of the CD case align the photos centering between the edges and mark the tab locations. Using a craft knife, carefully cut the slots for the tabs to fit into and attach the photos to the clock body, sliding the tabs into the slots. 7. Stamp the Sunbonnet Picking Flowers image on the cream cardstock with vintage photo ink. Tear out and distress the edges with the ink, also, and attach to the clock face in the lower right hand corner. Embellish the front of the clock with found metal objects, mulberry paper flowers and beads. Finally, using the ruler find the center of the clock face, cut a hole with the craft knife, and attach the clock works.
