CD CLOCK

By JoAnne Hoffman
Scrampin’ Love Bug
Beginning Scrampers Designer Team

Supplies:
Any Brand CD will work (I used an old AOL)
Stamps of your choice
White Cardstock
Heat n Bond (Therm O Web)
Folk Art Metallic Acrylic Paints (Plaid)
Paint brushes of your choice (Plaid)
Heat Gun (Milwaukee)
Clock Parts (Walnut Hollow)
Embellishments of your choice

Instructions:

Method 1:

1. Trace around CD on cardstock with pencil.  You will trim later inside the line so mark will not show.

2.  Stamp surface with any design desired as you would do a card.

3.  Cut out circle (just inside the pencil mark).

4.  Trim edge in gold paint pen or whatever you prefer.

5.  Glue circle onto CD, make sure logo is not showing through.

6.  Cut a small X in cardstock in center of the CD hole.

7.  Add buttons, beads, etc, for hour marks.

8.  Put clock through hole trimming any extra cardstock.  Add all washers and hand for the clock.

You have just made an adorable gift or to keep on your table.  Whichever you choose, good luck and share with us.

Method 2:

1.        Cut a piece of Heat N Bond slightly larger than the CD (5½x5½").

2.        Apply a few colors of acrylic paint (I used metallic) on the square of Heat N Bond.

3.        Swirl around with your finger, toothpick, etc., to get the pattern you like.

4.        If you like, you can add some iridescent water color medium and swirl it around for a little more sparkle.

5.        Let dry. This may take overnight depending on how much paint was used.

6.        Trim in a circle just a little bit bigger than the CD.  I like to have a little overlap over the edges onto the back to have a finished look.

7.        Using a heat gun, heat from the bottom of the CD.  This will melt the Heat N Bond to the CD without bubbling the paint.  I did hit the top just a little to melt the edges to get them started curling over.  I pushed them on down and over with my fingernail (too hot for your fingers).

8.        Make small X in cardstock in center of the CD hole.

9.        Add buttons, beads, etc., for hour marks.

10.    Put clock attachment through hole trimming any extra cardstock.

11.    Add all washers and hands for the clock.

Have fun; try this technique and most of all, share your creations!
