Designer Challenge Sponsored by Faerie Song Art Stamps

Dreams and Moonbeams

By: Bea Rosenleaf
Trailblazer
Mixed Media Art Team Designer

Fantasy stamps are difficult for me to use. My first reaction to the stamps I received from Heather was dreaming. Thus this card. I tried to evoke a sense of the dreams we have when sleeping. I hope I achieved my goal!

Supplies:

Blue Cardstock, folded to create a top-fold
    8-1/2"x5-1/2" card (unknown)
Piece of White Glossy Cardstock, cut in 4 pieces. Set two pieces aside for another project at
another time.  We will use 2 pieces for this project.
Piece of Black Scrap Cardstock
Piece of Scrap Hand-made Yellow Moon Paper (California Paper Goods)
VersaMark Ink Pad
Polysparkle Embossing Powder (Ranger)
Black Embossing Powder (Ranger)
Personalized Backgrounds Stamp Set (Dream Impressions)
Distressed Bet Stamps  (The Angel Co.)
Dance With Your Spirit Stamp Set (The Angel Co.)
Chasing Moonbeams Stamp (Faerie Song Art Stamps)
Sleeping Faerie (Faerie Song Art Stamps)
Noir Palette Hybrid Ink Pad (Stewart Superior)
Crystal Stickles (Ranger)
Craft Sheet (Ranger)
Adirondack Alcohol Inks: (Ranger)
    Stonewashed
    Butterscotch
    Terra Cotta
Alcohol Ink Blending Solution (Ranger)
Heat Gun
Adhesive of Choice
Pop Dots
Acrylic Block for unmounted stamps

Instructions:

Create Background on Blue Card:
1.  With Versamark ink pad and background stamp from the Dream Impressions set, stamp randomly to create background. Sprinkle Polysparkle embossing power over the card. The embossing powder will stick to the ink. Use heat gun to melt the embossing powder. Set card aside for now.

Create Monoprint Background:
1.  Take the alcohol inks, one at a time, and create lines and dots of each color on the craft sheet.  Sprinkle with the blending solution. Take the piece of white glossy cardstock and turn upside down (with glossy side down) and set on top of the inks on the craft sheet. Quickly turn the paper 45 to 90 degrees and lift straight up.  Set this piece aside for another project.

2.  There will be inks left on the craft sheet.  Take a second piece of white glossy cardstock  and repeat step 1. Lift the paper straight up.  You will notice the colors are more muted and lighter than the first piece.  This is called "Second Generation Monoprinting".  This is the piece we will use for this card.

Create the Rest of the Card:
1.  Using the Versamark ink pad, ink up the sleeping faerie and stamp onto the scrap piece of black cardstock. Sprinkle with the Polysparkle embossing powder and heat with the heat gun until melted. Tear the cardstock around the image.

2.  Take the piece of yellow moon paper and adhere to the embossed black cardstock. Tear around the edges creating a mat around the black cardstock. Attach this at an angle to the left side of the blue card.

3.  Take the piece of glossy cardstock with the monoprint background on it and stamp the faerie with Versamark ink. Be careful when stamping on glossy paper, the stamp tends to slide. Sprinkle image with black embossing powder and heat until melted.  Trim around the image.

4.  Apply Crystal Stickles to the wings of the faerie. Set aside to dry.

5.  Using the black ink pad and the 'Dream' stamp, stamp at an angle on the blue card above the black matted faerie.

6.  Take the lower case 'o' and 'f' from the alphabet stamp set and attach to an acrylic block. Stamp the word 'of' approximately in the middle of the card at the top.

7.  Now take the 'Chasing Moonbeams' and ink up with the black ink and stamp on the right-hand side of the top of the card.

8.  The Stickles should be dry by now. Apply 3-D dots to the back of the glossy faerie and adhere to the card, overlapping just a bit on the right side of the black faerie.
