 Matchbook Album

By Rita Ann Plummer
Hot Rod Scramping Team
Advanced Scramping Team Designer

I made this project for my first Stamping Studio Design Team in 2005 and was published in Scrap & Stamp Arts magazine. No instructions were given in the magazine so I decided to share them with you here on the Rubber Road.

Supplies:

  • Jingle Bell and Stocking Set stamps #TSS030 (The Stamping Studio)
  • Black Watercolor Ink Pad (The Stamping Studio)
  • Color Box Cat’s Eye pigment brush: Brown (ColorBox)
  • Color Box Cat’s Eye pigment brush: Topaz (ColorBox)
  • Two 12 x 12 Red Cardstock Papers (unknown name)
  • One 12 x 12 Dark Green Cardstock paper (unknown name)
  • One 12 x 12 Christmas Music (Penny Black, Inc.)
  • One 12 x 12 Tan Cardstock (Bazzill)
  • Two 8 ½” x 11 White Cardstock for stockings for date and name of the family (unknown)
  • Crimson Lake #PC925 (Prism Color)
  • Dark Green #PC909 (Prism Color)
  • Zig Writer: Black (EK Success)
  • Brayer (unknown)
  • Clear Micro Beads (Penny Wise Arts)
  • O’So Sticky Tape Sheet (Penny Wise Arts)
  • O’So Sticky Tape ½” Roll (Penny Wise Arts)
  • O’So Sticky Tape ¼” Roll (Penny Wise Arts)
  • Gold Book Plates (Jo-Ann Crafts)
  • Two small brass brads (unknown)
  • Three small Ivory Tags (Office Max)
  • Ribbons (Offray)
  • Pop Dots (All Night Media)
  • Premature adhesion (Ditto)
  • Paper Cutter (Friskers)
  • Bone Folder
  • Ruler
  • Staple (Office Max)
  • Computer (My Personal)
  • Font: Lucida Handwriting 14 (Microsoft Word)

 Instructions:

1.    The Christmas Music paper is torn on both sides then placed on red cardstock.

2.    Cut 7 ½” x 5 ¼” of the green paper and place it on the red stock.

3.    Stamp Jingle Bell with black ink onto the red cardstock.

4.    Cut two 6 x 7 ½ of each red and green cardstock paper for background of the matchbook.

5.    Put the four pictures on the four backgrounds.

6.    Cut one 6¼” x 12” piece of the tan cardstock to making a matchbook album.

7.    Stamp three Stockings with black ink on the white cardstock and color each of the stockings.

8.    Remove the O’So Sticky Tape Sheet “white” off the red tape sheet and put it on the stockings paper.  Next, add a little trim for a clean edge and remove the O’So Sticky Tape Sheet “red” tape.  Refer to the photo.

9.    Place micro beads all over the tape on stockings and repeat again about two more times. (The reason to add more beads is because some beads will fall off the stockings, and you won’t miss any empty space).  I use a brayer for this as it is easier to “force” the beads to bond with O’So Sticky Tape Sheet.

10.           Using the cat’s eyes ink pads, brush ink on all three small ivory tags in a direct to paper fashion. Define the edges well.   Write down each title on the three tags.

11.           Add three Ribbons to the tags, a pop dot on the back, and attach to the Christmas Music paper.

12.           Attach the metal Book Plate, small brads, and date on the white cardstock together in the lower right hand corner.  Refer to photo for placement.

13.           I used my computer for my family’s names and printed them out on white cardstock.  Trim the paper so that can be fitted on back of the page.

14.           Place the four pages and match book together and staple it (I put three staples - I want that matchbook to stay together for a long time).

15.           Place the O’So Sticky ¼” Tape on the staples and cover them with the ribbon. Make a ribbon bow on the middle of matchbook.

16.           Put three ½” O’So Sticky Tapes strips on the back of the matchbook that will be holding it in place and put on the green background.

Tip: Trim any of the papers if they do not precisely fit the match book.
