Monochromatic Stamping ~ Shades of One

 By Lori Ronnerud-Guimond
Magic Stampin’ Bus
Newbies Stamping Team Designer

How many shades are there to one color?  Simply infinite!  That’s why monochromatic stamping is so much fun, yet can  be very dramatic at the same time.  See how many shades you can come up with to your favorite colors!

 Under the Weather

 Supplies:

  • Creepy Crawlies stamp set (TAC)
  • Alligator ink pad (TAC)
  • Chartreuse Multi Pack (Match Makers)
  • Prismacolor Pencils (Sanford)
  • Mono Adhesive (Tombow)

 Instructions:

1.    Trim medium color of cardstock to 5½” x 10.  Fold in half.

2.    Trim lightest color of cardstock to 5Ό” x 4Ύ“.  Attach to folded cardstock using Mono Adhesive.

3.    Trim darkest color of cardstock to 5” x 4½“.  Attach to folded cardstock using Mono Adhesive.

4.    Take a scrap of medium color cardstock and trim to ½” x 5Ό“.  Take another scrap of medium color and trim to ½” x 4Ύ“.  Mount to card as desired.

5.    Take a scrap of lightest color cardstock and trim to Ό” x 5“.  Take another scrap of lightest color and trim to Ό” x 4½ “.  Mount to medium colored strips, centering on each.

6.    Stamp orangutang so it looks like he is hanging from one of the strips using Alligator ink.  Color in with coordinating pencil.

7.    Stamp saying in bottom right corner also with Alligator ink.

Hello Friend

 Supplies:

  • Little Tidbits stamp set (TAC)
  • French Lilac Palette Hybrid Ink (Stewart Superior)
  • Dark Purple cardstock, ½ Sheet (5½” x 8½”), folded
  • Purple background paper (DCWV) (5Ό” x 4”)
  • Light purple sparkles cardstock (5Ό” x 4”)
  • Tags die (Sizzix)
  • Mono Adhesive (Tombow)

Instructions:

1.    Mount purple background paper to folded cardstock with Mono Adhesive.

2.    Trim light purple sparkles cardstock at an angle (as desired).  Attach to folded cardstock using Mono Adhesive.

3.    Take a scrap of dark purple cardstock and cut with Sizzix Tag die.  Mount to card as desired with Mono Adhesive.

4.    Take a scrap of purple background paper trimming to fit inside the tag.  Attach to the tag with Mono Adhesive.

5.    Take a scrap of light purple sparkles cardstock and attach to tag. Stamp saying in center with French Lilac ink.

Since I cut the light purple at an angle, I left that edge open to insert a gift card (or whatever you wish).

Since I am a packrat and save all my scraps of paper, I took the remnants from the tag die I cut and made a second card.
