Debossing with Metal Template and Sizzix

By Betti Geis
Crafty Cruisers
Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

This technique is accomplished by hand embossing your image as well with an embossing tool and light box. Any image will work; it is a fun twist and a new use for those embossing templates you already have.

 Supplies:

  • Terrific Tag punch box stamp set (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Canvas Background (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Tag punch (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Sentiment Elegant greetings (The Angel Company)
  • Brilliant Blue Dye Ink (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Brilliant Blue Card stock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Almost amethyst Card stock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Ballet Blue card stock (Stampin’ Up!)
  • Blue polka dot ribbon 1/8”
  • Sizzix Personal Die cutter
  • Sharp scissors
  • Embossing converter/ embossing folder (Sizzix)
  • Monoadhesive (Tombow)
  • Fiskars 12” trimmer

 Instructions:

1.    Cut Brilliant Blue card stock 5 ˝”x 11” and fold in half.

2.    Cut Almost Amethyst card stock to sizes: 5“x 4 “ and 4 ˝” x 3 ľ.”  Place the smaller piece inside the embossing folder following manufactures directions. Emboss the image with your Sizzix personal die cutter with the converter attachment.

3.    Ink up the canvas background stamp over the inverted side of the image (the backside of the image).

4.    Cut 2 pieces of polka dot ribbon and attach over card stock.

5.    Stamp canvas background and the “B” stamp on a scrap of Almost Amethyst. Punch out using tag punch and trim around edges. Punch out another tag out from Brilliant Blue and use to mat the “B” tag. Attach tag to card at an angle.  Stamp sentiment on another scrap of Almost Amethyst, tear around edges and sponge with Brilliant Blue Ink. Layer on Ballet Blue and tear around edges. Attach to the bottom of the card.
