Dog Days of Summer

Supplies:
Alphabet stamps (Hero Arts)
Paw Print stamp (Viva Las Vegas Stamps)
Date stamp (Heidi Swapp)
Jet Black Archival Ink (Ranger)
Creamy Caramel cardstock (Stampin’ Up!):
    Two pieces 8” x 8”
Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!):
   Two pieces 7 ½” x 7 ½”
Patterned paper (Sue Zipkin/Markings):
    Two pieces 7 ¼” x 7 ¼”
Basic Black cardstock (Stampin’ Up!):
    Two pieces 1” x 7 ¼”
Creamy Caramel cardstock (Stampin’ Up!):
    Two pieces 1 ¼” x 7 ¼”
Small pieces of Creamy Caramel and Basic Black
    cardstock (Stampin’ Up!)
Heart design grosgrain ribbon (Bo Bunny):
    Four pieces 7 ¼”
Epoxy stickers (EK Success phrase café)
Paw Print brads (Sue Zipkin/Markings)
ATG Tape (PennyWiseArts.com)
Xyron “X” sticker maker (Michael’s Arts & Crafts)
Computer to print “Dog Days” quote
1/16” Circle Punch

Instructions:

1.      Adhere the 7 ½” x 7 ½” black cardstock onto the 8” x 8” caramel cardstock; adhere the 7 ¼” x 7 ¼” patterned paper on top; set aside.

2.      Using the Xyron sticker maker, add adhesive to the ribbon; adhere two pieces of ribbon onto a 1” x 7 ¼” piece of black cardstock; adhere that layer onto a 1 ¼” x 7 ¼” piece of creamy caramel cardstock; set aside.

3.      Crop each photograph and layer each onto a piece of black cardstock, trim leaving a 1/16” border; then, layer each onto a piece of caramel cardstock trim leaving a 1/8” border; set aside.

4.      Using a word processing program on the computer and the Comic Sans font, print the quote (using black ink) onto a small piece of caramel cardstock, trim to a small tag; layer onto black cardstock and trim leaving a 1/16” border; layer onto caramel cardstock, trim leaving a 1/8” border.  Using the 1/16” circle punch, put a hole in the angled end of the “tag” and insert a paw print brad.  Stamp three paw prints with black ink on the tag; set aside.

5.      Make a second tag as before, except stamp the pets’ names on the top layer.  Stamp three paw prints using black ink on the tag; set aside.

6.      Using the Heidi Swapp roller date swap, choose the appropriate date and stamp onto a scrap of caramel cardstock using black ink; trim closely leaving room at each end for embellishing with the paw print stamp and a paw print brad.  Layer onto black cardstock and trim leaving a 1/16” border; set aside.

7.      Left page:  Adhere ribbon element at the lower edge of the page, approximately ½” from the lower edge of thepatterned paper.  Angle the first photo in the upper area and adhere.  Add the epoxy “Puppy” sticker above and to the left of the photo and “Love” sticker on the opposite, lower corner.  Adhere the tag element with the names on it, at a parallel angle below the photo and on the ribbon element.

8.      Right page:  Adhere ribbon element at the upper edge of the page, approximately ½” from the upper edge of the patterned paper.  Angle the second photo in the lower area and adhere.  Add the epoxy “bone” stickers, angled, along the left hand edge.  Adhere the tag element with the “Dog Days” statement at a parallel angle above the photo and on the ribbon element.  Adhere the date element in the lower left-hand corner.  Stamp paw prints along the remaining bottom edge and up the right-hand side.
