Ornaments
Glass and Vellum Ornament

By Stephanie Loomis
Trail Blazers
Mixed Media Team Designer

Supplies:
Glass Ball Ornament (craft store)
Tree and Holly Rubber Stamps (The Angel Company)
Text Rubber Stamp (I Brake for Stamps)
StazOn Jet Black Ink (Tsukineko)
Brilliance Pearlescent Thyme ink (Tsukineko)
VersaColor Scarlet ink (Tsukineko)
6” x 8” sheet of vellum (source unknown)
3” length of copper wire (hardware store)
Scissors
1/8” hole punch (Fiskars)
Heat tool (Marvy)
Pencil
Optional Embellishments:
    Glitter (Art Institute)
    Gems (Darice)
Gelly Roll Pens to enhance tree image (Sakura)

Instructions:

1.  Stamp the tree image onto the vellum with Thyme ink. Heat set.

2.  Remove the top from the ornament.

3.  Cut the tree from the vellum. You may choose to cut around the tree or cut a rectangle containing the tree.

4.  Punch a small hole at the top of the cut out.

5.  Thread the copper wire through the hole and twist.

6.  Color and embellish the tree if desired.

7.  Roll vellum tree around a pencil and carefully insert into the glass ornament. Keep the copper wire outside the opening.

8.  Put the text stamp on a block and ink with Jet Black ink. Bring the ornament to the stamp---leaving the stamp and block on the table. Carefully press the glass into the ink. Do not rock back and forth! Let dry for 5 minutes and repeat on the opposite side of the ornament. (photo6)

9.  Repeat the process using the holly stamp with Scarlet and Thyme ink. Heat set these inks.

10. Holding the copper wire, arrange the vellum tree until it is in a position you like. Pull wire through the ornament top hanger and wrap around the base.

11. Hang and enjoy!
