Christmas Beeswax Collage

By: Jennifer Willis
Off Road Inksters
Intermediate Scramping Team Designer

Supply List:
Christmas Themed Stamp (I Brake for Stamps)
Versafine Black Ink (Tsukineko)
Beeswax (Ranger Inc.)
Christmas Themed Printed Paper (Daisy D's)
Santa Themed Collage Sheet (Altered Pages)
Liquid Adhesive (Tombow)
Tissue Pape
Gold Mesh Ribbon (Offray)
Mat Board (Unknown)
Found Objects
Photos
Gold Paint Pen (Pilot)
Corner Rounder (Stampin Up)
1-1/4" Circle Punch (Marvy)
Melting Pot (Suze Weinberg)
Wax Stylus (Encaustic)
Scissors (EK Success)
Paint Brush (Linzer)

Instructions:

1.  Add beeswax to the melting pot and melt at 300 degrees. Once melted reduce the temperature to the 140 degree setting.

2.  While the wax is melting, cut a 4" x 5" piece of printed paper and attach to the same size mat board with the liquid adhesive. Allow to dry. Cut the photos to 2" x 2" and round the corners. Punch two Santa images out of the collage sheet with the circle punch. Adhere the photos and images to the background with the liquid glue in a random manner.

3.  Once the wax has melted, paint a thin layer over the collage. Add found objects, such as postage stamps and memorabilia, by attaching the pieces with the hot wax. Attach the gold mesh at the upper left and lower right corners with the wax.

4.  On a piece of tissue paper, stamp the Christmas themed stamp with black ink and tear out the area that will be used on the collage. Lay the stamped tissue on the bottom edge of the collage and paint hot wax over it until it is fully coated and has turned shear.

5.  If the wax solidifies before you are satisfied with the appearance, a hot wax stylus (a hairdryer or craft iron will also work) can be used to melt and spread the wax to get the appearance you are aiming for.

6.  Using the gold paint pen, frame the edge of the piece.
