By Bea Rosenleaf

The octagon tiles come attached to each other creating a sheet of
about 30 tiles. Look at how many ornaments you will be able to make for next to
nothing in cost! You have a quick and easy Christmas ornament for your tree and
everyone else! These little charmers make great gifts and provide hours of fun
crafting for any age group.
While Elmer’s Glue was used for adhering the backing, E6000 Glue
by Eclectic Institute performs the best.
Supplies:
Chris-Mouse stamp (The Angel Co.)
Limited Edition Flakes stamp set (The Angel Co.)
2-1/4” Tumbled Tile (Home Depot)
Noir Black Palette Hybrid Ink Pad (Stewart Superior)
Versamark Ink Pad (Tsukineko)
Sharpie Permanent Ink Pens—various colors (Sanford Brands)
White Liquid Appliqué—(Marvy Uchida)
Liquid Pearls—Ruby Red and Gold (Ranger)
Sparkle Gold Embossing Powder
Krylon Gold Leafing Pen (Sherwin-Williams Co.)
Silver Stickles Glitter Glue (Ranger)
Christmas colored cardstock, cut to fit the back of tiles - I used red (any
brand)
Heat Embossing Tool (Marvy Uchida)
Elmer’s Glue (Elmer’s Products Inc.)
1/4” Ribbon in any Christmas color—cut to size 7½”
Instructions:
1. Stamp
mouse on tile with Noir ink. You will need to press firmly onto the tile as
the tile has dimples, and you need to work the ink down into those dimples.
Use heat embossing tool to dry and set ink.
2. Color
image with Sharpie pens; but do not color in fur trim on shirt.
3. Using
Liquid Pearls, lightly dot both the Red and Gold onto the wreath.
4. Carefully
fill in the fur trim on the shirt with the white Liquid Appliqué (you don’t
need a lot!). Using the heat gun, heat the Liquid Appliqué (make sure you
don’t hold the gun too close or you will burn the appliqué as it begins to
bubble). When it begins to bubble and becomes textured, turn off the heat
gun and let tile cool. As you heat the Liquid Appliqué, you, also, heat set
the inks!
5. Add
a little Stickles glitter to highlight around the mouse’s feet to give an
appearance of snow.
6. Ink
various snowflake stamps with Versamark ink and stamp on the red piece of
cardstock. Dip the piece of CS into the embossing powder bag and flick off
the excess. Use the heat embossing tool to melt the embossing powder (make
sure you don’t overheat or the powder will melt into the paper).
7. Stamp
sentiment in Noir ink over the embossed snowflakes.
8. Take
red ribbon, fold in half, place a dot of glue between the two ends and press
together. Place a dot of glue on the tile (watch where you place it! Make
sure it’s at the top). Next, press the ribbon into the glue. Glue the red
backing piece you just stamped onto the tile making sure you have it aligned
with the front of the tile.
9. Use
the gold leafing pen and go around the outside edge of the tile and let dry.
