Rita Ann Plummer

My name is Rita Ann Plummer. I am married to my husband, Tom, for over six years now, and I have one daughter named Melissa who is four years old. She is my princess. I also have two silly dogs named Candy and Max.
My inspiration is my little girl Melissa as she is in my muse, and I feed on her energy. I am a stay home at home mom, so I am able to spend time with Melissa, and I have lot of time to do my artwork when she goes to school. My husband loves my work and supports me in all of my projects.
I have always been interested in crafts, but never found a medium that I liked to use until I fell in love with scrapbooking. I have been creating scrapbooks since Melissa was born and recording every event in her life with meaningful pages of scrapbook art. I have lots of photos waiting to scrap! Scrapbooking was my whole world until I discovered rubber stamping when the new The Scrappy Stamper store in Pinecrest opened.
Now, not only do I create with scrapbooks and stamps, I also love exploring other techniques such as Altered Art, Collage, ATCs, and Jewelry. Believe me, there is so much more going on in the art field that I like! I love combining scrapbooking and stamps together so I don’t think I will ever run out of ideas to use. Scrapbooking and crafts quickly grew into a full blown obsession, and I love to try new techniques and scrapping materials available.
I have been on the scrapbook design team for The Stamping Studio off and on since 2004. I have been published in Scrap and Stamp Arts, August 2005 issue on the front cover and three pages for scrapbook pages. I am very excited to be part of Rubber Road Adventures’ unique team and look forward to sharing my ideas with you!
Someone asked me, “Did you get your dream to be on a front cover and will you do more?” I replied. “I am still chasing my dreams, and I will never stop chasing them, even when one of them comes true.
I am so thrilled and honored to be part of the Rubber Road Rubber Adventures Design Team. Thank you Elizabeth!

Beki Ward

I am Beki Ward; wife to Myron for 30 years; Mother to Nick (28) & Thad (24); Mother-In-Law to Crystal & Jennifer; Grammy to Will & Izzy, my prides & joy; and last but not least Human Mom to Savannah & Star my two miniature dachshunds.
I have lived in “Southside” Virginia for 13 years and love it here. My home is in a very small, rather rural town on a large man-made lake. Although it’s fairly “out of the way” from most stores and restaurants, we’re relatively close to several cities where I can shop for stamping and scrapping supplies. Slowly but surely, I’m convincing friends that they, too, NEED to stamp, scrap, and create with paper…their husbands all hate me!
I’ve done all kinds of arts & crafts throughout my life. I learned to sew at eight years of age and made most of my clothes when I was in high school. I still sew occasionally. Does sewing on paper count? I worked in a ceramics shop on the base where we lived when Nick was a baby. I poured my own molds, painted and fired pieces. I did many counted cross stitch projects and kept most of my patterns, fabric and floss. Did you know floss is a great embellishment on cards and pages?! I also loved Tole painting and did many pieces until surgery on my right wrist and elbow left me unable to grasp a paint brush very long. That’s when I learned about rubber stamping…
Nick’s friend came for a weekend visit with his Mother (we had recently moved). She was a stamper and I didn’t know a thing about stamping. That weekend she wanted to learn Tole painting, but she brought two large stamps she had just acquired to show me. I was instantly interested, so she told me about the process of using stamps. We went to Wal-Mart that weekend where I purchased a few stamping supplies.
Sunday evening came and it was time for our guests to go back home. On the way out the door, she mentioned she hadn’t shown me how to stamp. I assured her that given her description, I could figure it out. She wouldn’t hear of that and walked back in the house to the table in the kitchen, took one of the stamps, pigment ink, an index card (I’d forgotten to buy cardstock!), and the embossing powder. She inked that stamp, pressed it onto the index card, sprinkled on the powder, tapped it off, then lamented “Oh no, I forgot to bring my embossing tool.” You could almost see the light bulb go off in her head as she said, “The oven vent will work!” I was cooking supper at the time. She held the stamped index card over the oven vent then showed it to me. I was SO excited that I instantly got on the internet to find more about stamps. And the rest, as they say, is history.
When Nick moved into his own place, I commandeered his room as my studio. It’s an amazing sight to see how much “stash” one can acquire over ten years.
Although I was resistant to scrapbooking at first, when Will & Izzy were born I became inspired! They are my favorite subjects to scrap…the pages I create with pictures of them inspire me to do pages of Nick & Thad.
I don’t have a method to scrapping; meaning, I don’t usually scrap chronologically or specifically for an event…I usually scrap whatever I’m inspired to scrap…or whatever the subject/topic happens to be for a design team.
I am always happy to share my creations with anyone at any time, but am honored to be chosen as a designer for Rubber Road Adventures. Although I don’t feel worthy, I am thankful for this opportunity. My goal is to create elements on my creations that will inspire folks to create, even if it’s only one person!
