Altered Cutting Board

Altered Art is all the current rage. You simply must try the latest in altering, which is the cutting board!  It makes a great addition to any room dιcor and can be found in most stores. 

Supplies

•  All Occasion Lowers (TAC, The Angel Company)
•  Distressed-Bet (TAC, The Angel Company)
•  Piggly Wiggly (TAC, The Angel Company)
•  Palette Noir Ink Pad (Stewart Superior)
•  CD to use as a paint palette
•  1” foam paintbrush
•  Flat paint brush for painting stamps
•  White Acrylic Paint (Plaid)
•  Berry Red Acrylic Paint (Plaid)
•  Sandpaper
•  12” x 8” Wooden Cutting Board (Housewares by Pride)
•  Basic Grey (a sheet from Sublime collection); cut to size: (1) 8”x6” 
•  Select Alphabet Stickers from Basic Grey Sublime Collection
•  Mod Podge Gloss-Lustre (Plaid)
•  Ribbons and Fibers to coordinate with your project
•  Water
•  Stamp cleaner
•  Towel
•  Paper towels
•  Paper to cover work surface 

Instructions

  1. Completely cover entire cutting board with a layer of white paint, allow drying using foam brush.
     
  1. Ink using Noir pad and stamp pig and oink oink from Piggly Wiggly randomly all over board; allow drying and then sanding lightly.
     
  1. Mix white and berry red paint to get desired color and paint over cutting board again, allow drying.
     
  1. Adhere Basic Grey over middle section of cutting board using Mod Podge, allow drying.
     
  1. Paint chosen letters with same paint mixture as used on final layer of cutting board using flat paint brush.  Clean each stamp immediately after use with water, stamp cleaner, towel and paper towels. With Smaller alphabet stamps, you may need to ink using Noir pad and stamp over painted image to make it clear.  This gives a great effect along with the Basic Grey.
     
  1. Ink pig and “oink oink” words again using Noir Pad and stamp onto right bottom side of cutting board.
     
  1. Chose coordinating stickers to go along with stamped saying and adhere in bottom left corner of cutting board.
     
  1. Completely cover board and work with a light layer of Mod Podge to seal and allow drying.
     
  1. When dry, add ribbons and fibers to accent your work.
     
  1. Admire your Simply Elegant project and hang in a place of honor or give to someone as a gift that will be treasured.
