CHRISTMAS HOLLY ACETATE & ART GLITTER LAYOUT

By Cindi Bisson,
Advanced Scramping Team Designer

Supplies:
Medallion and Holly stamp (TAC)
Luscious Lips Ink Pad (TAC)
Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad (Tsukineko ~ *TAC)
Red Embossed 12x12 layout paper (All My Memories/TAC)
White and dark green cardstock (TAC)
Acetate
ART Glitter (Art Institute ~*TAC)
Designer Dries Clear glue or Crystal Lacquer
Gold photo corners
Vellum (TAC)
Ribbon (Offray)

Instructions:

You will first need to select your photos and determine which way you wish to use the pre-embossed paper (i.e. vertically or horizontally).  This WILL affect the size of some of the pieces of cardstock you will need to cut as indicated below…..

  1. Cut 4 squares of acetate approximately 1/8-1/4” larger than the 4 light red embossed squares on the page.
  2. Stamp holly image onto each acetate square using black Staz-On.  Lightly heat set to dry.
  3. On non-stamped side of acetate apply Designer Dries Clear glue or Crystal Lacquer to the leaves of the holly.  Sprinkle with green ART glitter, tap off excess.  Repeat for the berries using red ART glitter.  Set aside to dry.
  4. Cut dark green squares to fit over 4 light red squares on the page.  Approximately 1/16” of the light red should show around the green square.  Also cut a strip of green paper to use for topper of journaling area.
  5. Cut 4 white squares slightly smaller than the green squares.  Also, cut a strip of white paper slightly smaller than the dark green strip to use for topper of journaling area.
  6. Keeping in mind that these photos will need to fit inside the largest light red area on the embossed paper.  Cut white mats a bit larger than the photos to be used. Then, cut dark green mats to fit beneath the white so approximately 1/16” of the green shows beneath the white.  The size of the mats will depend upon the photos chosen for the layout.
  7. Ink medallion stamp with luscious lips ink and stamp off on scrap paper.  Then, randomly stamp over all pieces of white cardstock.  Continue until you have an overall background color effect.
  8. Mat photos to stamped white cardstock using gold photo corners. Mount onto large light red embossed area of page.
  9. Cut ribbon the same length as the light red embossed area beneath the 4 squares.  Attach ribbon in this area.
  10. Attach 4 green squares over light red embossed squares.
  11. At a diagonal, attach 4 white stamped squares over green squares.
  12. If you will be computer journaling, print journaling onto vellum and cut to fit inside center light red embossed rectangle on the page.  If hand journaling, cut vellum to fit inside square.  Layer stamped white strip onto dark green strip and mount at top of journaling vellum to hold in place.
  13. Once dry, the completed glitter acetate accents can be mounted diagonally over the white stamped squares.  I used E-6000 to attach mine so they would be slightly raised on the page and add dimension.
