Christmas Shrink Art Pin

By Wanda Troupe
Hot Rod Scrampers
Advanced Scramping Team Designer

After many failed attempts, I finally came up with something that worked for these pins. I love the way the alcohol-inked background came out for this project and adding beads gave me the finished look I wanted.

Supplies:

•  Noel stamp (TAC)
•  Versamark (Tsukineko)
•  Alcohol Inks: Red Pepper, Butterscotch, Lettuce (Ranger)
•  Blending Solution (Ranger)
•  Gold Detail Embossing Powder (Ranger)
•  Translucent Shrink Plastic; size 3-1/4” x 4” (Lucky Squirrel)
•  Wood block with Velcro
•  Small piece of felt
•  Gold Leafing Pen (Krylon)
•  Regular Hole paper punch
•  Gold jump rings (unknown)
•  Gold head pins (unknown)
•  Beads (miscellaneous)
•  Needle Nose Pliers
•  Pin Back
•  E-6000 Glue (Eclectic Products, Inc.)
•  Personal Paper Trimmer (Fiskars)

Instructions:

1.     Attach piece of felt to Velcro on wood block. Squirt several drops of each color alcohol ink onto felt. Apply to shrink plastic using a dabbing motion. When satisfied with coverage, squirt blending solution on same piece of felt over top of alcohol inks. Blend inks on shrink plastic in same manner, using a dabbing motion.

2.     Punch three holes at bottom of shrink plastic using regular paper hole punch. Stamp “Noel” on shrink plastic using Versamark ink. Cover with gold detail embossing powder. Shrink in oven or with heat gun.

3.     Edge with gold paint pen.

4.     Attach jump ring through each hole. String beads as desired on head pins and attach to jump rings.

5.     Glue pin back using E6000 glue.

That’s it! Wasn’t that easy? Have fun experimenting with colors for all kinds of pins. If you haven’t tried adding beads to your project, beware – they are as addicting as everything else about this hobby!

Happy stamping,

Wanda
