Instructions:

  1. As with any scrapbooking page, the first thing to work on is the background page.  I took Bazzill cardstock and stamped the eclectic turkeys from the TAC set on it and the words Happy Turkey Day in a random fashion.  I love the look of stamping your own background paper; you will see that I do this often with various techniques.  I used the barn red ink to stamp these images.
  2. Once they were dry, I used the Delta Tea Stain Varnish to paint the background giving the paper a vintage look.  I use a paint brush with big bristles, but a foam brush will work nicely, also.  The best thing about the Delta Varnishes is that the feel of the paper changes when you paint with them.  It gives the paper a glossy feeling which really makes it a must to feel and see in person, just lovely.
  3. Working on embellishments for your page is a lot of fun especially when TAC stamps are used.  I knew basically what I wanted to do and then experimented until I got the look I wanted.  I stamped on my border paper with Versamark ink and  heat embossed the images with gold embossing powder.  You’ll notice that I alternated the images, but could have easily used a random pattern.
  4. Once embossed, I used the Delta Paint For Paper from the paint pots and painted my images in.  Once the painting was completed and dry, I  painted the paper with the images with the Tea Stain Varnish.  Varnishing my embellishments, gives the page uniformity.
  5. I then tore out my border for the bottom and the border pieces for the top and matted them on Bazzill dark brown cardstock.  They were adhered  to the background paper with glue dots.  Glue Dots are the only adhesives that I have found that will stick to the varnish well.  You will notice that I used drywall mesh on my page, also, and love it!  It gives the page a homespun look, which I was aiming for.
  6. Once my page was put together, I used the Lasting Impressions sewing template and piercing tool to make holes in my page where I would do my embroidery stitching.
  7. Of course the page wouldn’t be complete if the photo mat didn’t match the page.  I cut the mat to size then varnished it with the Tea Stain and used the same template to make holes in the mat to do a simple cross stitch.
  8. Last but not least, and the most important part of the page, I added the journaling.  It reads:

Thanksgiving Turkey Recipe
1 18lb turkey
Plenty of Spices
Brown to Perfection
Carve with creativity
Serve with love

I hope you enjoyed my festive page.
