•  Summer Sun dye ink pad (Stampin’ Up!)
•  Really Rust dye ink pad (Stampin’ Up!)
•  Basic Black dye ink pad (Stampin’ Up!)
•  Ruby Red dye ink pad (Stampin’ Up!)
•  Basic Brown dye ink pad (Stampin’ Up!)
•  Summer Sun Cardstock for layering (Stampin’ Up!)
•  Ruby Red Cardstock for layering (Stampin’ Up!)
•  Vellum
•  Brayer
•  Pearl Ex Antique Gold (Jacquard)
•  Small paint brush (Royal)
•  VersaMark (Tsukineko)
•  Iron
•  Two sheets of plain paper
•  Copper brads
•  1/16 inch hole punch

Instructions:

1.    Ink up brayer with classic dye ink and brayer Ľ sheet vellum. Repeat with second color. Sample used Stampin’ Up! Summer Sun and Really Rust. Let dry.

2.    Crumble the inked vellum carefully in your hand. The vellum is brittle and will crack, but even if it does crack it’s okay. The cracks just add to the aged look!

3.    Open the vellum and flatten it as much as you can.

4.    Set the iron on dry setting with no steam.  Place the vellum between two pieces of paper and iron it to flatten it out more.

5.    Stamp the vellum with desired stamps and ink. Let dry.

6.    Tap the VersaMark ink on the ridges of the vellum that were made when it was crumbled.

7.    Using a paintbrush, apply Pearl Ex to the VersaMark areas.

8.    Tear all four edges of the vellum.

9.    Stamp the layers of cardstock if desired. Sample used Stampin’ Up Canvas Background.

10.                       Attach vellum to the fist layer by punching holes in the corners with the 1/16” punch and copper brads.

11.                       Finish mounting vellum and first layer to the base card.

12.                       Finished the card by stamping on a tag and folding tag around the card from front to back. Add a ribbon for added embellishment.

Helpful tips:

Brads or eyelets can be used to attach vellum to cardstock. You can, also, use special made vellum tape. The tape will not show through when used on the vellum.  In addition, I have used Stampin’ Up! Crystal Effects. Apply a small dot to each corner and stick to the cardstock. Crystal Effects dries clear and will not show through the vellum.

This technique is wonderful for scrapbooking black and white photos. See sample made with my sister’s photo in my personal gallery.
