Brayer Bouncing

Rita Holmes
Magic Stampin’ Bus
Newbies Stamping Team Designer

I saw a card in a magazine with no directions other than briefly stating it was done by bouncing a brayer.  I began experimenting with it until I got the look I wanted, and all has escalated from there.  Brayer Bouncing is a very quick and easy technique that can be so addictive.  You can use almost any type of stamps to compliment the background, and it looks great.  Be brave, creative, try different colors, and have a great time!

Supplies:

•  Stamp set: Happy Birthday (TAC)
•  Stamp set: A Gift for You (TAC)
•  Stamp Pad:  Kaleidacolor Birthstone (Tsukineko)
•  Stamp Pad:  Black Beauty (TAC)
•  Acrylic Blocks (TAC)
•  Fabri-Tac Glue (Beacon)
•  Cardstock:
        - White 5 ½”x8 ½” folded in half for card
        - Pink 5 Ό”x4” Mat
        - Glossy White 5” x 3 Ύ”
•  Soft Rubber Brayer
•  Scrap piece of paper bigger that the glossy cardstock

All stamping is done with unmounted stamps placed on an acrylic block.

How to Bounce Your Brayer:

  1. Lay glossy cardstock onto scrap paper.

  1. Ink brayer heavily with the Kaleidacolor Pad.

  1. Holding your brayer horizontally above the glossy paper; bounce the brayer.  DO NOT MOVE THE BRAYER EXCEPT FOR UP AND DOWN OFF THE PAPER.   Turn the glossy cardstock as you are bouncing the brayer.

  1. Make sure you keep the brayer in one spot as you bounce.  This will keep the colors from becoming muddy.

  1. Keep doing steps 2 and 3 until you get your piece of glossy cardstock covered to your liking.

  1. This may take some practice.  Don’t give up as it is too fun and cool not to do.

Instructions:

  1. Lay your piece of glossy cardstock onto the piece of scrap paper.  Ink up brayer with the Kaleidacolor pad.

  1. Bounce your brayer onto the glossy cardstock covering to your liking using the above instructions.

  1. Stamp the words Happy Birthday with the Black Beauty ink onto the upper portion of the glossy cardstock.

  1. Stamp the gifts from the A Gift for You stamp set onto the lower portion of the cardstock.  Mount onto the pink mat and then to your card using Fabri-Tac Glue.

ENJOY!!!
