Domino Spotlighting

By Becky Lemire
Off-Road Inksters
Intermediate Scramping Team Designer

Supplies:

Small Baby Collage Rubber Stamp (Paper Inspirations)
It's a Date rubber stamp set (Stampin Up)
Burnt Umber Hybrid Palette Ink Pad (Stewart Superior)
Metallic Rub-Ons:  Deep Gold (Craf-T Products)
  Two Dominos (3/4" x 1 5/8")
Cardstock & Alpha Letters for Title - Vagabond Collection (Basic Grey)
        -  Mustard - cut one piece to 5" x 12", two pieces to 4 3/4" x 5"
        -  Royal - tear along the right side so the piece is about 8 1/2" x 12"
        -  Navy blue Cardstock with a white core (unknown) – Cut one piece to 4 3/4" x 5" and one piece to 2" x 8 1/2"
  Silver Molding Strips (Making Memories)
  Gold Leafing Pen (Krylon)
  Color Pencils (Prismacolor)
Gold Cord (Stampin Up) - 3 pieces cut to about 13" each
  Sandpaper
  Heat tool (Marvy)
  Scotch Double sided tape (-3M)
  Two photos (3 1/2" x 5")

Instructions:

1. Prepare all papers as directed in the supplies.  Sand the pieces of navy cardstock to distress slightly and sand the two dominos to prepare them to take color.

2.  Stamp the baby collage stamp using Burnt Umber Palette ink onto a square piece of the Mustard cardstock.  Tear around all four sides close to the image.  Attach this to the square piece of navy cardstock.

3.  Ink up the baby collage stamp again over the mother and baby using the burnt umber ink.  Press the domino onto the stamp and lift carefully.  Heat set with heat tool.  Ink up the section on the lower right of the stamp with the sleeping baby and press another domino over the baby.  Lift carefully and heat set.  Color the images with colored pencils.  Edge the dominos with the Gold Leafing pen and set aside to dry.

4. Tape the large piece of Royal cardstock to the large piece of Mustard cardstock so that the torn edge of the Royal overlaps the Mustard and the full width of the combination is 12".

5.  Tape photos in the upper left and lower right corners of the page as shown in photo.  Using the self adhesive molding strips, make a frame around the photos.  I mitered the corners, but you could butt the ends together instead.

6.  Tape the other square of the Mustard cardstock to the lower left corner of the page at a slight angle.  Stamp the month, day, and year stamps from the It's a Date stamp set on the lower left corner of the square using Burnt Umber Palette ink.  (See photo).  Circle the date of your photos using these neat stamps and use this square for journaling.

7.  Use the letter stickers in the Vagabond collection to make title on the long strip of sanded navy cardstock.  Rub some deep gold metallic rub-ons around the edges of the two navy cardstock pieces.

8.  Lay the gold cords across the center of the page as shown in photo and tape to secure on the back of the page.

9.  Attach the baby collage piece to the upper right corner of the page at a slight angle as shown in photo using double stick tape.  Attach the title in the center of the page over the gold cords using double stick tape.

10.  Using double stick tape, attach the dominos directly over the same image on the full collage image to spotlight the baby, and the mother and baby images.
