Faux Mosaic Frame Set

Jennifer Caputo
Hot Rod Scrampers
Advanced Scramping Team Designer

Supplies:

•  Well Defined Backgrounds (TAC)
•  Journey’s Unmounted Font (Club Scrap)
•  Palette Noir Black Ink (Stewart Superior)
•  Alcohol Inks in various colors (Ranger)
•  Faux Mosaic Kit (Ranger)
•  4 Wooden Frames (Michaels)
•  White Glossy Cardstock (Marco’s Paper)
•  Alcohol Ink Applicator (make your own with felt, wood, and Velcro)
•  Scissors

Instructions:

1.  Ink up your alcohol ink applicator with several colors of alcohol ink.  Apply them polished stone style to the glossy cardstock. To achieve this style, dab the applicator quickly and repeatedly in an up and down motion onto the cardstock until it is covered with mottled ink, but not over blended. Repeat for 4 sheets of glossy cardstock, changing color schemes each time.

2.  Overstamp the Well Defined Backgrounds set with the Noir Black ink on each sheet.  I used the “Love”, “Dream”, “Heart”, and “Inspire” definition stamps. Leave some of the background plain.

3.  To the left over plain pieces of the polished stone background cardstock, stamp the letters to spell the words “Love”, “Dream”, “Heart”, and “Inspire” with the Journey’s unmounted font.  Leave some room between each letter so you can cut between them.

4.  Cut your background sheet into random shards.  Also, cut your letters into random shards.

5.  Prep the wooden frames by painting a layer of grout from the Faux Mosaic Kit on each one.  Let dry thoroughly.

6.  Use the Faux Mosaic Glue to adhere all of your shards to the frame.  Start with the word that will go down the side of the frame and then place the rest of the shards in the empty spaces.  Let dry thoroughly.

7.  Use the Faux Mosaic Glaze to outline and fill in every single shard to make it look like an actual piece of tile.  Let dry overnight and then repeat to achieve 2 layers of glaze.
