For July’s fun technique, I decided to go out on a limb and try something I had never done before – stamp with acrylic paints onto fabric. As I played with the paints and stamps, I fell in love with the fun results. I hope you will too!  This is the last Planner page to be a featured layout for Rubber Road Adventures. However, you may see the rest of months posted to my personal Gallery.

(*Note: For more information on the size and source of my book, refer back to the March calendar page – Versamark Resist technique).

 Instructions

1.                Print calendar from desired source. I used Printable Calendars (http://www.printable-calendar.com/) since they were a good size to fit on my page. Before printing, I added birthdays and holidays; you may do this by hand or on the computer. Highlight special days with small rectangle shadow stamp from Rugged Shadows stamp set using green ink, off stamping once to give you a lighter image. Trim with paper trimmer as closely to edges as possible leaving room for matting. Mat with yellow cardstock positioning calendar close to top of mat.

2.                Stamp sunflowers as desired onto the two 4-1/4”x9-7/8” strips of white cardstock using yellow, green and brown inks. Glue one to top of right page. Glue matted calendar to right side aligning at bottom.

3.                Glue green cardstock to top of left page. Glue 2nd 4-1/4”x9-7/8” sunflower stamped strip to bottom of left page on three sides, leaving top open for pocket.

4.                Cut a 4” square from muslin. Paint Sunflower Yellow paint onto sunflower stamp with paintbrush. Using another clean paintbrush, add rust color to center of flower with rust paint. Stamp onto center of muslin and let dry.

5.                Stamp sunflower onto computer paper and cut out to use as a mask. Align mask over acrylic stamped sunflower. Apply green paint to leaf stamp with paintbrush and stamp three times (reapplying paint each time) around sunflower. By using the mask, it brings the sunflower to the front of the image. Stamp the center of the flower with gold paint. Fray edges. Attach muslin to burlap with gold brads in top left and bottom right corners. Glue to top left corner of left page.

6.                Repeat this entire process with mini brushed sunflower stamps on 2-1/2” piece of muslin, matted on a 3-1/2” square of burlap with small gold brads on top right and bottom left corners. Glue small matted sunflower to bottom right corner of calendar.

7.                Stamp three mini sunflowers and nine green leaves on white scrap paper. Cut out. Cut a 4” square from burlap and then cut in half diagonally; fray edges. Cut 2-1/2” square from burlap and then cut in half diagonally; fray edges. Glue larger burlap corner to left side of pocket. Arrange two mini sunflowers with leaves on top and glue. Glue smaller burlap corner to top left corner of right page and place one mini sunflower with leaves on top.

8.                Trim sunflower picture to 3”x5” and mat with green cardstock leaving 1/8” border. Glue to right side of pocket.

9.                Stamp mini sunflowers on 3”x7” piece of yellow cardstock for “NOTES” tag. Mat tag with tan cardstock leaving Ό” border. Cut 1”x2” piece from green cardstock and fold in half; glue to top of “NOTES” tag. Punch hole, attach gold eyelet and thread strings of burlap. Place tag in pocket and your July calendar layout is now complete!
