Color Wash Background~Emboss resist

By Jeni Calkins
Scrampin' Love Bug
Beginning Scramping Team Designer

Still want more of the color washes? How about using them for a resist. Start with one of the papers you completed using any background techniques. Stamp it with clear embossing ink or emboss it in clear embossing powder and spray it with a contrasting color.

Wear gloves, old clothes, and work in an area protected by newspaper.

Color a sheet of paper with the color washes using one of the techniques already discussed, let dry. Then stamp your image with versamark and emboss in clear. If you want a very subtle image just use the embossing ink.

Spray your paper with water, and next with a contrasting color of color wash.

Note about color - The first color you used to dye your paper and the color you spray over it will mix. Therefore, it’s best to use colors that are close to each other on the color wheel.  An alternative method would be to mix two colors to make a third color, such as butterscotch and denim will give you a final color of green.

You can remove the embossing powder by placing your paper between two sheets in a pad of newsprint and ironing it. The embossing powder melts into the newsprint. Move your paper around to different areas of the newsprint continuing to iron until all the embossing powder is removed.
