  • Light Box (Light Tracer - Artograph)
  • Scissors
  • 1” Square Punch
  • 12” X 12” Light Green Cardstock (Made to Match – American Crafts)
  • Dark Green Cardstock (National)
  • Patterned Paper (Kangaroo and Joey)
  • White Cardstock scraps
  • Yellow Cardstock scraps
  • Scraps of White Cardstock with Yellow Dots (Lasting Impressions)
  • Scraps of Medium Green Cardstock with white back and core (Lasting Impressions)
  • Adhesive Tabs (Hermafix)
  • Scotch Removable tape (3M)

Instructions:

1.                Turn on the light box.  Tape the brass stencil onto the light box with removable tape placing the tape along the edge of the stencil.

2.                Embossing is easiest with light colored cardstock or cardstock that is white on the back.  Dark cardstock is very hard to see through, even with a light box.

3.                Using the white cardstock with yellow dots, place it over the stencil pattern side down with one of the yellow dots over the center of the flower.  Tape the cardstock to the light box with removable tape. Rub a piece of wax paper over the cardstock.  This helps the stylus move smoothly over the cardstock.

4.                Starting gently at first, use the stylus to press the paper into the flower portion of the stencil.  This works best by pressing gently at first and going back over the area several times, pressing a little harder each time. When finished, remove the tape from the cardstock.

5.                Emboss a second flower on the same yellow-dotted cardstock.

6.                Emboss a third flower, using the yellow cardstock this time.

7.                Using the medium green cardstock, emboss three sets of two leaves (one set for each flower).

8.                Remove the tape from the brass stencil.  Reposition it back onto the first white flower.  Using a cotton swab, chalk the outline of the flower through the stencil with pink chalk.  Do the same for the second white flower.  If you don’t have yellow dotted paper, you could use plain white paper and chalk the centers of the flowers with yellow chalk.

9.                Do the same for the third yellow flower, but use orange chalk for the outline and brown chalk for the center.

10.           Use the sanding block to gently sand the leaves.  Since the paper has a white core, this will turn the embossed lines white.

11.           Cut out the flowers leaving a narrow edge outside the embossing.  Don’t cut too close to the embossing or it will flatten out.

12.           Cut out the leaves, leaving them connected in the middle.

13.           Glue the flowers onto the leaves; set them aside.

14.           Stamp the flower twice with the Pearlescent Coral ink onto white cardstock.  Stamp the centers of the flowers with the Brilliant Yellow ink.  Cut out the flowers and set them aside.

15.           Stamp the flower three times with Brilliant Yellow ink onto yellow cardstock.  Stamp the centers of the flowers with the English Red ink.  Cut out the flowers and set them aside.

16.           Stamp the flower with Versamark ink all over the light green cardstock.

17.           Cut a strip of dark green cardstock 12” X ¾”.  Cut a second strip of dark green cardstock 12” X ½”.

18.           Tear a strip of patterned paper 12” X approximately ½”.

19.           Layer the strip of patterned paper onto the wider strip of dark green cardstock.

20.           Layer the narrow strip of dark green cardstock along the top border of the light green cardstock.

21.           Layer the patterned paper/dark green cardstock along the left border of the light green cardstock.

22.           Because I took so many photos of flowers, I decided to punch 1” squares of flowers from some of the poorer photos.  I also cropped three other photos to approximately 3 ½” X 3”.

23.           When I took the photo of my husband standing at the gate, there were people standing near him who wouldn’t move, so I covered them up with another photo.

24.           Arrange the photos, stamped flowers, and embossed flowers as shown in the layout.
