Creative Paper Punching

By Terri Doney
Hot Rod Scrampers
Advanced Scramping Team Designer

Supplies:

·        Patterned Paper – Slab V (Provo Craft)
·
Border Punches in Greek Key and Diamond (Fiskars)
·        Corner Punch (Creative Memories)
·        Foam Stamps in Paisley and Misunderstood (Making Memories )
·        Cream Acrylic Paint (Folk Art)
·        Foam Brush (Wal-mart)
·        Moody Blues Cardstock (Club Scrap)
·        Xyron 510 Adhesive Machine
·        Mini Tape Runner (Creative Memories)
·        Xyron Cheetah Adhesive
·        Rulers and X-acto Knife (Perfect Layers)
·        Microtip Scissors (Fiskars)

 Instructions:

  1. To make the background, I put aside a piece of white cardstock.  I then took my dark blue paper from the Slab V and the Greek Key Fiskars border punch and punched a border around the edges.  When the border was punched, I rounded the corners with the Creative Memories corner rounder punch.  I used the Creative Memories mini tape runner to put adhesive on the punched edges of my patterned paper and the Xyron Cheetah to run adhesive over the middle.  I attached the punched paper to my white cardstock.  Using the foam brush, I brushed the acrylic paint onto the paisley stamps and stamped the blue background paper.  Once it was to my liking, I set it aside.

  1. I then worked on the photos for the page.  I put the photos through the Xyron 510 to apply an even coating of adhesive on the back and attached them to the Moody Blues cardstock.  I cut around them using the perfect layers rulers and my xacto knife.  I set them aside and took the piece of light blue dragonfly paper and stamped it with the paisley stamps with the cream acrylic.  Once it was dry, I took my main photo, attached it to this paper, and then used the perfect layers ruler, 1” side to cut the mat down to size.  Using the Fiskars diamond border punch, I punched around the edges of my mat and trimmed the corners.  Once the punching was done, I put the matted photo back through the Xyron 510 to apply an even layer of adhesive on my diamond punched mat.

  1. I decided that one photo should have priority over the other meaning drawing the eye to that photo first.  I placed the other photo underneath and placed my diamond mat to the side, but just so the mat was covering a bit of the edge of the second photo.  I put this aside to work on the title, Scrunchie, which is our nickname for our son.

  1. I created this title by stamping with the Making Memories Misunderstood alphabet foam stamps and acrylic paint.  Just brush on the paint and stamp away.  I then cut all my letters out using the microtip scissors, ran them through the Xyron 150 machine and attached them to my page creating my finished layout.
