Instructions

1. Clear emboss bold images onto Mulberry paper with regular embossing powder (not detail and not ultra thick).  I embossed “Our Honeymoon” at the top center of a 10.5” x 10.5” piece of paper and also embossed the Hibiscus Flower and the Palm Tree scene a few times on the paper as well.  Work on a craft sheet because the embossing powder will soak through the thin mulberry paper.

2.  Place “Our Honeymoon” mulberry paper onto a non-porous tray or in a box.  Spritz with water to dampen, then spray randomly with Bottle, Denim, and Stream Colorwash inks.  Spritz with water again to blend the colors.  Set paper aside and allow to dry slightly (about 10-15 minutes).  Repeat for the piece with the embossed Hibiscus and Palm Tree as well as a strip of 3” x 12” plain mulberry paper.

3.  Place damp (not soaking wet) mulberry paper between 2 sheets of newsprint.  You can find newsprint in art supply stores, you can also try heading to your local newspaper and seeing if they will sell you an endroll.  You need blank newsprint, not printed!

4.  Iron the “Our Honeymoon” sheet with a craft iron until the embossing powder melts into the newsprint.  This could take a few minutes, be careful not to burn the mulberry paper.  If the mulberry paper sticks to your newsprint then reheat with the iron until the embossing powder releases the mulberry paper.  Repeat for the other sheet of embossed images.

5.  When you’re finished ironing, all of your embossing powder should be gone and your papers should look like those above.

6.  I used a sketch from Club Scrap’s “By the Seashore” layout card for this page.

7.  Crop 3 pictures to 3x3, two to 4x5, and one to 4x4.  Print journaling on cream cardstock and crop to 4x5.  Matte the 3x3 photos with blue cardstock, matte one of the 4x5 pictures and the 4x4 picture with sand cardstock.

8.  Tear 3 hibiscus flowers from the mulberry paper and matte with cream cardstock.  Tear out one palm tree and matte with cream cardstock and then again with blue cardstock.

9.  Matte 3”x12” piece of mulberry paper with sand cardstock.  Arrange the 3 matted hibiscus flowers onto the strip.  Sew on seed beads in an X pattern between the flowers.

10.  Matte the 10.5” x 10.5” “Our Honeymoon” piece with sand cardstock and then again with blue cardstock.

11.  Adhere the 3”x12” piece, the three 3”x3” pictures, the un-matted 4”x5” picture and the journaling to a sheet of green textured cardstock.

12.  Adhere the “Our Honeymoon” matted pieces to the background green cardstock.  Layer the 4”x4”, 4x5”, and matted palm tree piece on top of the “Our Honeymoon” piece.

That’s it!
