By Betti Geis

Intermediate Stamping Team Designer

Supplies:

  • Reminisce Stamp Set (TAC Available by July 05)
  • Creole Spice Kaleidacolor (Tsukineko)
  • Brilliance Graphite Black Pigment ink (Tsukineko)
  • CD for recycling
  • Double Microscope Slide Holder (Paper Therapy)
  • Glass Microscope slides (Paper Therapy)
  • Translucent Stencil embossing Paste (Dream Weaver)
  • Manila scrapbook paint (Memories)
  • Black embossing Powder (TAC)
  • Gold Ultra thick Embossing Enamel (Unknown)
  • Melting Pot (Ranger)
  • White tissue paper
  • Versamark
  • Clear embossing powder (TAC)
  • Book Binding Glue (Club Scrap)
  • Brayer with rubber attachment – (Speedball)
  • Dry Craft Iron
  • News Print
  • 3/8” dark Purple organdy (unknown)
  • Picture from Melanie Sage CD

Directions:

1. Paint CD with Manila scrapbook Paint and let dry thoroughly.  I have found this paint adheres best and gives a smooth finish to the plastic.

2.  Ink up brayer with the Kaleidacolor Creole Spice and brayer CD to the color intensity of your liking. Let Dry.

3. Smooth on embossing paste making texture as you like. This will dry clear.

4. Paint the Microscope slide holder with the manila scrapbook paint and let dry.

5. Cut a piece of tissue paper to fit over the microscope slide holder about 8”x 4” and leave enough to wrap over the edge.

6. Ink up the girl image with Versamark stamp randomly on tissue paper.

7. Emboss with clear embossing powder.

8. Ink up brayer and brayer the tissue paper over the embossed images.  Hold on to the tissue or it will wrap around the brayer.

9.  Place between 2 sheets of news print iron to melt the embossing powder, which will absorb into the newsprint.

10. Apply book binding glue or craft glue to microscope slide holder then apply tissue paper wrapping edges over neatly.  Be very careful as the tissue is extremely fragile.

Cut another piece of tissue paper 4”x 4½ “.  Stamp with Black pigment ink and emboss with black embossing powder.  Brayer with Creole spice and glue to cover of slide holder.

11. Melt gold embossing enamel in melting pot.

12. Place picture between 2 glass microscope slides and dip edges in melted gold embossing enamel on all 4 sides to make “faux Solder.”

13. Dip edges of the microscope slide holder in melted gold embossing enamel and drizzle a bit on the front.  Glue glass microscope slide holder into slide holder with book binding glue.

Glue slide holder to CD (when embossing paste is dry) and attach ribbon.
