Monthly Planner~March
Versamark Resist

By Wanda Troupe
Hot Rod Scrampers
Scramping Team Designer

I decided to make my own Planner this year after seeing the idea from other scrappers.  I simply love being able to incorporate my pictures and all kinds of different stamping techniques into something I will use and can enjoy daily!  You will see more of these pages in the coming months since I strived to use a different technique on each month.  Versamark Resist is such a simple technique that yields gorgeous results!

I am using a spiral bound scrapbook I picked up from Wal-Mart for $6.88. The 10”x10” size was more appealing to me because I wanted to be able to use this Planner for everything so I could have my life all in one place. Another size may be better for you as some people prefer the smaller Planners.  Smaller calendars are also available on the web.  You just have to research and find the one that fits your needs.

Instructions

1.                            Print calendar from desired source. I used Printable Calendars (http://www.printable-calendar.com/) since they were a good size to fit on my page. Before printing, I added birthdays and holidays; you may do this by hand or on the computer.  Highlight special days with small rectangle shadow stamp from Rugged Shadows stamp set using light green ink. Trim with paper trimmer as closely to edges as possible leaving room for matting. Mat with light blue cardstock positioning calendar close to top of mat.

2.                            Using light green ink and medium rectangle shadow stamp from Background Builders, stamp two blocks on lower right hand corner of calendar and again on scrap white paper.  Ink tulip stamp from Charcoal Flowers with Bouquet Kaleidacolor Pad and stamp over the green blocks on both the calendar and scrap paper. Cut tulip from scrap paper trimming around blocks and mat with yellow scraps leaving 1/8” border.

3.                            Repeat stamping tulip with Kaleidacolor pad onto top of background above where you will place your calendar on the right page.   Only a little strip will show, so you don’t have to fill the entire page.  Arrange letters for the word “SPRING” with Ancient Alphabets and ink with Platinum Planet and stamp onto background. Cut a 3”x7” strip from white cardstock scraps and stamp the tulip image – this will be the “Notes” tag.  Using yellow cardstock scraps, mat this strip leaving a 1/8” border all around.  Cut a 1”x2” piece from light green cardstock and fold in half – glue to top edge of tag, centering.  Punch hole through center and attach gold eyelet. Thread fiber through eyelet.  Using small alphabet stamps and black ink stamp “NOTES” at the top. Voila! Your tag is complete!

4.                            Glue calendar to right page aligning at bottom. Trim picture to desired size; mine is approximately 2-1/4”x6” and mat with yellow cardstock from scraps leaving 1/8” border. Attach to bottom of calendar.

5.                            Using Versamark, repeatedly stamp tulip image across glossy cardstock. Brayer entire piece using Kaleidacolor pad. Wipe off any excess ink to allow tulips to show through. Using the same letters as above, stamp “SPRING” onto background using Platinum Planet Ink.

6.                            Trim smaller picture (mine is about 3-1/4” square) and mat with white cardstock leaving 1/8” border and glue to left side of brayered piece. Take stamped, matted tulip and glue to right side. Using small anywhere hole punch, make a hole on each side of matted tulip and attach white eyelets. Run fiber across the front and attach to back; I tied the fiber together instead of using glue since this will be a pocket.

7.                            Attach light green cardstock to top of left calendar page.   Mat 4”x6” picture with white cardstock leaving 1/8” border and attach to top right on green cardstock.  Run a thin line of glue around three edges of brayered piece (leaving top unglued) and glue to bottom of page overlapping green – this will form your pocket.

8.                            Place tag in pocket and your March calendar page is done! Enjoy!
