2.  Lightly sand the dominoes and the washer until the tops are not so perfectly smooth.  You need to make a gripping surface for the paint to adhere to.

The Resist Technique:

3.  Separate the pieces for the alphabet stencil. Paint the negative pieces (the parts that aren't actually the letter) with a coat of the Gray Plum Acrylic Paint.  If the stencil is still showing through the paint, apply a second coat and let dry.

4.  Paint the letter piece of the stencil with a coat of the Rose Pink Acrylic Paint.  If the stencil is still showing through the paint, apply a second coat and let dry.

5.  Ink your flower stamp with the Versamark ink and randomly stamp onto the negative piece of the stencil and the negative circle piece.  Apply the Clear Embossing Powder and heat set with the heat tool.

6.  Repeat step #5 with the letter "b" stamp on the letter portion of the stencil.

7.  Paint a coat of Rose Pink paint onto the negative pieces of the stencil.  Before it dries completely, you will wipe the embossed areas off with the tissue to reveal the purple beneath.  If you wipe it off too soon you will wipe off more than the embossed areas.  If you wait too long to wipe off, you may need to dampen the tissue in order to get the paint to rub off of the embossed areas.  In all cases- RUB GENTLY!

8.  Ink the footprint stamp with the Versamark Ink and stamp twice on the Sea Green piece of cardstock for the footprints.  Apply Clear Embossing Powder and heat set.

9. Paint the Sea Green piece of cardstock with the footprints with the Rose Pink paint.  Before it dries completely, you will wipe the embossed areas off with the tissue to reveal the green paper beneath.

Stamping with Paint Technique:

**Make sure you wash the paints off of your stamps immediately so you don't damage your stamps!

10. Paint two dominoes with the Rose Pink paint.  Paint one domino Celery Green and one domino Gray Plum.  Let dry.  Apply a second coat if necessary and let dry.

11.  Mix Stamping Medium into the Paints using equal amounts.

12.  Using "b", "ink" up the letter with the Gray Plum paint.  If it has been applied thickly, then stamp onto scrap paper first to get rid of excess paint.  Then, stamp onto one of the pink dominoes.  Repeat this for the other pink domino.

13.  Repeat step #12 with "a" in green paint and "y" in pink paint.

14.  Using the Alphabet letters spell "sweet" backwards on an acrylic block.  Do this with the washer below it so that you can line your letters up in a half-circle that is the correct size.  Paint the washer with the celery Green paint.  Before it has dried completely, ink your "sweet" up with the Rose Pink paint that has the stamping Medium in it.  Stamp onto the washer using firm pressure.  When you pull the stamps off, it should take the green paint with it leaving you with a pink outline of the letters and the silver washer showing through.

15.  Ink the footprint stamp up with the Rose Pink /Stamping Medium blend.  Randomly stamp on the 4¼" x 5" White Journal Mat, stamping 2-4 times per inking to achieve varying degree of shades.

16.  After the footprints have dried, dip your paintbrush in clean water.  Immediately pick up some Rose Pink paint on the paintbrush and mix it in a clean well on your paint tray.  This will create a very thin wash.  Add more water if you would like it to be thinner or more transparent.  Mine is pretty thin, but test it out on a scrap piece of paper first to make sure you like the look.  Apply the paint in a left to right sweeping motion across the footprint paper.  Your paper will want to curl as it is just cardstock.  Flip it upside down onto a piece of scrap paper and lay something on top to hold it down flat while it dries.

17. Using your Silver Leafing Pen, run it over the edges of the dominoes to finish them.

18.  Using your Deckle Scissors, trim around each of the footprints leaving a small border.

19.  Compile journaling on the computer and print out.

20.  Assemble all the pictures and mats as shown.  The 3-D dots were placed behind the footprints to "pop" them.  The dominoes and stencil are stuck down with Zots.  Attach fiber to your washer and loop through to attach it to the green strip.  I, also, attached a Zot to the washer to keep it in place.  The Silver embellishments are placed over Mini Glue Dots onto the vellum.  I, also, used Mini Glue Dots behind the vellum in those same spots to attach it to the Journal Mat.  The Silver Embellishments hide the glue dots perfectly.

Painting can be so much fun and it is so versatile.  Acrylic paint goes a long way and is relatively cheap.  Have fun with it!
