Altered Coffee Can Lid

Supplies

Eclectic Alphabet (TAC)
Squiggle Hearts (TAC)
Sun Ripened Raspberry Ink Pad (TAC)
Black Beauty Ink Pad (TAC)
Pink Cardstock (TAC)
Ivory Cardstock (TAC)
6MM Alphabet Beads (Michael’s)
Wire (Artistic Wire)
Heart Stickers
Heart Buttons
Dusty Mauve Acrylic Paint (Apple Barrel)
Hot Pink Acrylic Paint (Apple Barrel)
Pink Mulberry Paper
Wonder Tape (Suze Weinberg~*TAC)
Large coffee can lid
White Glue
Paint Brushes
Paper Cup
Scotch Double Stick Tape (3M)

Instructions

  1. Trace the coffee can lid on pink cardstock and cut out.
  2. Use Wonder Tape to affix the cardstock to the coffee can lid.
  3. Paint Dusty Mauve around the circumference of the lid and allow to dry.
  4. Stamp the hearts in Sun Ripened Raspberry ink and cut out.
  5. Stamp the initials on the hearts in black ink.
  6. Leaving a border around the edge of the photographs, cut out the photographs. Affix them to the pink mulberry paper with Scotch tape. 
  7. Layer the pink mulberry paper with photographs to the pink cardstock with Scotch Tape. 
  8. Paint a border around each photograph with Hot Pink paint and a paint brush.
  9. Mix 2/3 white glue with 1/3 water in a paper cup.
  10. Paint the water/glue mixture around the edges of the mulberry paper and use the end of the paint brush to wrinkle and position the mulberry paper.
  11. Adhere the stamped hearts as shown using Scotch tape.
  12. Use full strength white glue to adhere the heart buttons around the outer edge of the lid.
  13. String the beads to make the word “sisters” on a length of wire and use Wonder Tape to adhere in the center of the lid.
  14.  Apply white glue to the extra beads as shown in photo and place where desired. Accent with any stickers of your choice for added embellishments.

Notes

Pampered Chef makes a hand-held can opener that leaves a smooth edge on the lids of cans.
